Guitar Collection: Fendercaster

First off on my list was to get a new Stratocaster, or something in the Fender bloodline.
I considered a Telecaster, since I already owned a Strat. But after playing a few, including a American Standard Tele and a Tele Thinline. I decided they are not for me. I don't like the slab body, or the pickup options.
I prefer the style of a Stratocaster. The Telecaster has always been second to me.
My new Strat had to have three single-coil pickups and a traditional tremolo. No humbuckers. No Floyds. I also wanted to get a maple neck this time. Being budget conscious, any of the American Strats were too expensive - I get the feeling you are only paying for the fact that they are made in USA, and it has nothing to do with quality anymore. And most of the Squier guitars are just not of the quality they once were. My old 1987 Squier is more akin to a Mexican-made (MIM) Strat of today. After a bit of homework, and testing, I bought the Mexican-made Fender 50's reissue in Daphne Blue. I ordered it and waited over a month for this particular color. The color is very pretty, it "feels" pure and clean, and in my opinion reflects the bright sparkling sound a Strat produces. I am quite impressed with the Mexican made Stratocaster. The quality of construction is excellent. The details that make this a 50's reissue, are perfect. I am particularly impressed with the finish on the maple neck, it has the right tint, gloss and slightly thicker coating to it to give it the vintage look, with the extra buildup of clear coat at the frets and the edges of the headstock. And then there is that sound - something I missed ever since I put a humbucker on my original Stratocaster. That bridge pickup is so bright and sparkly.
